Crazy Pets - SOLC 8

It was routine as always last night with my dog.  I put her out potty one last time and then off to bed she goes in the pantry that has a nice little area just for her complete with dog treats, comfy bedding, and her monkey squeaky toy that has seen better days.  Typically, she goes right to her treat gobbles it down and then circles several times before settling in to a peaceful rest.  Last night was not typical!  For some reason she decided she didn't want to sleep in her bed.  She whined and barked.  Then whined and barked some more until her mommy came out and rescued her from the pantry.

She is not allowed in the bedroom at night because she tends to make messes and generally stink up the place.  So, guess where I slept last night?  On the couch with Pepper curled up as close to the couch and me as she could get.  Needless to say it was not a peaceful night for me.  I am sure today is going to be forever long due to my sleep deprived state.  When I left this morning the dog was still following me around and whining as I walked out the door.  What was different? I have no idea but I desperately hope she is recovered when I get home this evening and I will be able to sleep in my bed without the noise.

  1. Was it raining? My dog used to be perfectly fine during the rain and thunderstorms. All of sudden, out of the blue something changed and every time it is going to storm she knows long before us and starts shaking. She whines, she shivers, she cries. There is absolutely no sleeping when there is a thunderstorm on its way. I sincerely hope that it was a one time thing for her and not an unbreakable routine like my dog!

  2. Hmmm, wonder what's up with Pepper? There might have to be some tough love happening if she doesn't go back to normal. Don't you just wish she could tell you what's bugging her? Good luck tonight, I'll be wondering if you are on the couch or in bed as I head to my bed.

  3. There was a full moon, literally. There were some animals in our neighborhood that had a hard time settling down last night, too. Your writing reminds me of the funny stories in Marley and Me. I'm sure you didn't think it was too funny, though. Hope tonight is better!

  4. I liked your description of Pepper's special place. Maybe she just needs more time with Mommy!

  5. Pepper just needed more mom time or maybe there is something about that full moon. Our dog was making noise early this morning in her crate. Hmm... I heard a lot of teachers say that the kids were crazy too.

  9. I love that you gave in and slept on the couch. I would have done the same thing. Hopefully she is all better tonight. :)
